The existing homes are located on Curry Rise and Bray Road. The estate is located in Mill Hill East, Barnet, 6 minutes from Mill Hill East station (Zone 4 Northern Line). It is well placed for the amenities of Finchley Central and is within walking distance of Bittacy Hill Park, Panoramic Park and Darlands Nature Reserve.

The current apartment blocks on the Estate are converted 1950s military barracks that were purchased by Notting Hill Housing Trust (now Notting Hill Genesis) in 1995. We identified the need to address serious housing quality issues at the development, to meet the long-term needs of residents.

We're one of the largest housing associations in London and the south-east. We build and maintain quality affordable homes, creating diverse and thriving communities. This is our primary purpose. Everything else we do supports this mission.

With over 50 years’ experience of housing delivery and property management, we will always:

  • Build and maintain high quality, affordable and sustainable homes
  • Work with local authorities and development partners to tackle the housing crisis
  • Specialise in mixed-tenure, sustainable developments
  • Deliver homes that Londoners can afford, whatever their personal circumstances

Ballot

We have been working in partnership with the residents of Curry Rise and Bray Road to bring forward the regeneration of the estate. In July 2024 residents voted in favour of comprehensive redevelopment of the estate to deliver new homes fit for the future.

Community feedback

Resident input has been fundamental in shaping the redevelopment proposals. Throughout the 18 month consultation period we hosted numerous consultation events and design workshops.
Community consultation has been led by Notting Hill Genesis with the support of the project consultant team and TPAS the independent resident advisors. Overarching project scrutiny has been provided by a Resident Steering Group.

Feedback gathered during the consultation have been used to inform important design elements within the proposals. Examples include:

Layout of the development

Public spaces and landscaping strategy

Parking arrangements

Internal layout of homes

External appearance of buildings

Millbrook Rise

Recent consultation with residents has been focused on the future estate identity. Feedback from residents has been used to develop a brand identity and name for the new estate – Millbrook Rise.

Resident Steering Group

The Resident Steering Group was established in December 2024 to provide ongoing feedback and guide decision making. The group will continue to play a central role in the project, providing overarching project scrutiny and as a consultee to the communications and rehousing activities.
