We held the annual Urban Gamez last week in Heybourne Park on our Grahame Park estate, where we are leading a comprehensive regeneration programme to improve the physical environment and provide socio-economic opportunities for local people.
The Gamez are hosted by Barnet Homes and a range of local community organisations come along to help out and spend time with residents. We sponsor the event alongside other organisations who all help to put on the fun family day full of activities.
We had a bouncy castle, mini golf and inflatable basketball. The younger residents competed against each other throughout the afternoon in the highly contested 40 metre race.
Alongside Notting Hill Genesis, the London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police and the Colindale Community Trust were there to talk about local issues with the Grahame Park and wider Barnet community.
We also took this opportunity to consult residents on the next phase of the regeneration programme asking for feedback on the designs. We also talked about which new local businesses they would like to see there and what the new open spaces could be used for.
It was good to see The Loop, a Grahame Park-based business which restores and upcycles furniture, at the Gamez – their stall was a real hit.
Great weather contributed to a fantastic turnout and atmosphere throughout the day. As usual it was an amazing opportunity to celebrate the vibrant and diverse community of Grahame Park. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!
