We’re reviewing our safeguarding adults and safeguarding children and young person’s policies and need your help to check they are easy to understand and any actions we need to take are clear.
We recognise he level of contact we have with our residents means are well placed to identify adults or young people who may be experiencing or are at risk of abuse.
Our safeguarding policies set out our approach to preventing and responding to concerns of abuse, harm, or neglect of adults or young people who may have care and support needs.
We need to ensure everyone in our communities understands what to report to us, how to report a concern and what we will do in response, so it’s important that our policies are clear.
It is also important that vulnerable customers are aware of the support we can offer them, therefore we’d particularly like to hear from as diverse a group of residents as possible who can feedback on how the policy reads from their unique perspective.
What we’d like you to do
We’re looking for adults to review our safeguarding adults policy and young people between the ages of 15 and 17 to review our safeguarding children and young people policy. This is a great opportunity for young people to gain valuable experience in policy making and making organisational change, which can be useful for UCAS applications, college/sixth form applications and to add to CVs. So please pass this opportunity on to family members if you think they would like to take part.
If you are interested in helping us with this important piece of work, we’ll send you a link to review the relevant new draft policy. We’d like you to note:
- The readability of the policy
- If you had a safeguarding concern, you would understand how to report it
- If you would know the types of issues to report
- If the actions we take in the event of a report are clear
- Any views you have on our processes
We’re then running sessions in January where we’d like to talk through your views.
Safeguarding adults policy sessions:
- Wednesday 15 January - midday to 2pm at 1-3 Sussex Place, W6 9EA
- Thursday 16 January – 6-7pm online via Teams
If you would rather, you can provide feedback on the wording of specific areas of the new safeguarding adults policy via our survey.
Safeguarding children and young people’s policy session:
- Wednesday 29 January – online via Teams, 6-7pm
If you or a member of your family are interested in getting involved, please email our resident involvement team on involvement@nhg.org.uk or call them on 020 3815 0367.
