How we’re supporting our residents

We have a number of support options for our residents from paying utility bills to a bank for essential baby items. You can find a full list of them on our resident support page – this includes services on help you with money matters, health and wellbeing, advice, jobs training and skills and family support.  You can also join our mailing list to receive regular updates about our partners, projects, events and employment and training opportunities. 

Ahead of the winter months we wanted to highlight some of our key support services which could make a huge difference.  

Reducing bills 

Pocket Power

Through Pocket Power residents can apply for grants, discounts and switch to cheaper providers for their household bills like energy, broadband, phone and water.  

You will be booked in for a 1-2-1 phone appointment to go through their situation to find what works best for them – find out more here 

Leap

Leap is a free service that helps people keep warm and reduce their energy bills.  

They provide tailored advice and support depending on your needs including can offer home visits (based on the area) and providing measures such as draught excluders, LED light bulbs and more to help make your home more energy efficient.

Green Doctors

Similarly to Leap Green Doctors offer advice and help residents improve energy efficiency in their homes. Find out more and apply here 

British Gas Energy Trust

British Gas has their own Energy Trust for their customers which is an independent charitable trust set up to support families and individuals who are struggling to pay their bills. You can apply for a grant, get budget support or find local money and energy advice.  

Free energy vouchers

Non-British Gas customers can apply for free energy vouchers – this is available for those who have a pre-payment meter and are facing financial pressures.  

You need to provide evidence which is a photo of your pre-payment meter showing the current balance along with one of the following: 

  • A copy of your rent statement if it shows you in arrears 
  • Proof that you are entitled to means-tested benefits  
  • An income and expenditure form if you are not on benefits – you can get one by asking your property management officer or housing officer

Debt support  

Money A&E

Money A&E provides money advice to help you make the most out of your income.  

You will be allocated a money coach who will offer confidential one to one debt including rent arrears, money guidance and support sessions to help you regain control of your finances.

Support for families  

The SPACE

The SPACE is a community-based charity designed to support expectant mothers, families with essential items needed for the care of babies and young children.  

They run SPACE baby bank that work as donation centres, collecting and distributing items such as baby clothes, nappies, wipes, formula, baby food, bottles, cots, strollers, and other necessary baby supplies.  

The SPACE also supports families with children up to the age of 12 and can provide food support, clothing, toiletries, and access to other services. 

They operate in Brent, Camden, Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham. You can find out more here
