We’ve had some great events getting into the festive spirit across our regeneration projects.
Christmas Wonderland at the Aylesbury
We held our Aylesbury Christmas Wonderland event at St Peter’s Church on Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
The Christmas Market in the main hall of the Crypt saw more than 20 local businesses showcasing their creations. Inside the church there were community stalls provided by St Peter’s Primary School, St Peter’s Church and a kids’ zone with facepainting, crafts, games and festive magic.
There was also a raffle where over £600 worth of vouchers went to the lucky winners. Vouchers included some for local businesses such as Amigo’s restaurant on Bagshot Street and Saint Louis’s Cryptmas dinner experience, while Community Cycleworks generously donated a bike as the star prize.
This was an event showcasing partnership at its finest – thank you to Hill, Morrisroe, Southwark Council, Trampoline NH CIC, Lavastar Visual Solutions, Plantsocietree, Sudbury Dry Lining Group, Saint Louis and St Peter’s Church as well as our resident volunteers for giving up their time to support this event and their local communities.
Winterfest at Grahame Park
In partnership with CCT, Barnet Council and Barnet Homes, the annual Winterfest on Grahame Park took place last Friday (6 December).
We were so pleased with the amazing turnout, where residents enjoyed a range of activities including, arts and crafts, and wonderful mediterranean food from a local business.
Our popular resident DJ Dave was on the decks, we had a choir perform outside on the concourse, and there was Bollywood dancing in the community centre. We were also joined by the Zen bus providing wellbeing activities and our contractors Just Ask who donated vouchers and put on some activities for residents. As for the popcorn and candy floss stands, the residents voted with their feet (and mouths), and there was none left by the end of the day.
There was also a raffle with Christmas hampers and vouchers worth over £500 being won.
Woodberry Down Christmas lights switch on
On Woodberry Down the celebration was marked by the Mayor of Hackney, Caroline Woodley, turning on the Christmas lights. She said a few words beforehand about the importance of community events like this one and the regeneration of Woodberry Down while, of course, there was no shortage of mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas tunes from Fame Star Youth and local school choirs.
The festive fun continued at Redmond Community centre with market stalls, arts and crafts and hot food being served.
