Last week we held an employment event for those looking for new job opportunities.
The Aylesbury Now Employment Fair welcomed more than 200 residents, with nearly 60 signing up for future training, apprentices, or employment opportunities.
The event, on Saturday 20 July at St Peter’s Church in Walworth, brought together the church’s annual Party in the Park event and Trampoline’s monthly Makers’ Market, as well as our employment fair, offering accessible opportunities for the local community.
Plenty of residents registered their interest in applying for jobs, while a funfair, tombola and a DJ all added to the fantastic atmosphere.
Employment support workshops hosted by our contractor Pilon were popular, as was an employment fair raffle where we donated a tablet and Just Ask donated a £50 voucher.
A massive thanks to St Peter’s Church and Trampoline NH CIC for ensuring each component of the day delivered. We’re also grateful to the 25 St Peter’s Church volunteers who brought an abundance of energy and community stewardship.
Thanks also to our enthusiastic partners and contractors at the Aylesbury Now Employment Fair including Equans, Joe Brennan Training, Pilon Limited, Hill Partnerships, Just Ask Services, Bridge of Hope Careers, Retinue, Southwark Works and our own HR Team.
We received praise from the Mayor of Southwark, Naima Ali, local councillors, St Peter’s Father Andrew, and community parents, as well as our supply chain partners and our residents. One of our partners, Mark Bush from Equans, fed back to us about this being one of the best employment fairs he has ever attended.
We experienced a real sense of pride in the partnerships and we look forward to following everyone’s employment journey as that will be the real marker of success.
